Who Is Bethany?

Bethany Lutheran Church is a congregation that is undergoing revitalization. There is an average of 101 in worship using a traditional style.

The congregation had its beginnings in 1939 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. From that humble beginning, it grew to be a vibrant, large congregation in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Then, with the exodus of many people from the neighborhood, it began to lose members.

At present membership has stabilized and, in fact, it is showing signs of growth. It has a desire to reach out to especially the young people who are moving back into this neighborhood.

It has a very active youth group with an enthusiastic, talented part time youth director.

The leadership is visionary and seizes the opportunities which God places before it. It is willing to take risks. It is involving and mentoring new people on its boards and committees.
